WoW Addons

Addons are used to enhance players' in game experiences and can help players do everything from find their way in instances with the use of addon maps to scan auction house information to determine the best price at which to sell items. Blizzard supports the use of addons that do not violate the World of Warcraft Terms of Service Agreement; however, since Blizzard does not create addons and offer support for them they are often in need of patching themselves after World of Warcraft patches and may not work properly until their developers update them.

Addons give players a slight edge against other players and PvE opponents, if you do not use addons you are definitely missing out. Addons help players eliminate typical annoyances such as not knowing the average going price of an item (which can be found with the Auctioneer addon) and provide players with data such as the amount of damage each group member is dealing (which can discovered with the Recap and Damage Meter addons). Below you will find reviews of some of the most popular World of Warcraft addons.

Auctioneer Addon

Your rating: None Average: 4.7 (11 votes)

The Auctioneer addon is one of the most popular World of Warcraft addons available. Without Auctioneer, players are forced to buy and sell items without the information they need to make informed purchases. Instead, they end up overpaying for items they buy and severely underpricing items they sell. However, with the Auctioneer addon you can not only place multiple stacks of items up for sale but can also scan the auction house and set it up to undercut all of the existing auction prices or over price items if you wish.

Gatherer Addon

Your rating: None Average: 4.6 (10 votes)

Gatherer is a must have addon if you are a miner, herbalist, or treasure seeker. Rather than tracking nodes on your map as you see them, Gatherer records the location of nodes that you have looted. So for example, if you are herbing in the Barrens and have Gatherer enabled all of the nodes you loot will be recorded so that they next time you enter the Barrens all of the locations you previously looted nodes at will show up on your minimap.
