Description:

Magtheridon's Lair is a 25 man raid instance located in Hellfire Citidel in Hellfire Peninsula. The attunement for this instance has been removed, but is still available for those wishing to complete it. Magtheridon's Lair is the bridge between tier 4 instances and tier 5 instances for guild progression.

Class Requirements:

5 Geared Tanks
5-7 Healers
The more warlocks you bring the easier this fight will be.

Instance Specific Tips:

To get an extra boost in Damage, before zoning in have your raid group take control of the 3 pvp objective to gain a 5% dps increase. Since this instance only take 15-20 minutes you should be able to gain full benefit from this before the other faction retakes control of them.

 

 

Description:

There are exactly 13 trash mobs in this instance before you get to the encounter. They all must be killed or the will aggro when you engage Magtheridon.

There is 4 groups of 3 and one patroling mob. They are all Hellfire Warders with the same abilities.

Special Note
These are the only mobs known to be able to land a crushing blow on a lvl 70 tank with 350 defense.

Abilities:

  • Quake: A knockback that bounces players through-out the lair for 7 seconds, this is cast for the first time 40 seconds after Magtheridon becomes active.
  • Blast Nova: A channeled spell that does 2,500 fire damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. You can stop Magtheridon by casting this by clicking the Manticron Cubes.
  • Cleave: Hits all targets in front of him for +8,000 on tanks.


Description:

This fight is about quickly executing commands and maintaining control. You start the fight by Tanking and spanking each of the five adds one after another. Once the adds are dead you will move on to Magtheridon. Magtheridon only has a few abilities you should be worried about such as blastwave and cave in during phase 3. Now for the specifics.

Strategy:

Pre-Pull:

When you enter Magtheridon's room you will see Magtheridon and 5 channels around the outside of the room standing on slightly raised platforms. Mark each of the channels with a different raid icon. At this point assign a Healer and a Tank to each raid icon mob. Now also assign a ranged class to each platform that a raid iconed mob is standing on for the cube clicking. IE "Nova you will be clicking the square that the Moon is standing on"

So at this point you have a tank and healer assigned to each trash mob and a cube clicker assigned to each platform. The kill order should be as follows. Kill the mob that is on the platform which is to the right of the door, then kill the mob right infront of the door and continue in that order clockwise around the room. Your maintank should be assigned to the mob right infront of the door so he is available to pick up Magtheridon when he engages.

 

Phase 1:

Have your tanks stand next to the mob they will be tanking, and have your dps next to the mob you will be killing first. As you are fighting the channelers they will cast shadowbolt volleys, and they will heal, it is important to interupt both of these spells. After each channeler is killed the remaining channelers will grow stronger, so shadowbolt volleys can become very deadly if not kicked towards the end. It is also advised that you put your 2nd best tank on the last add and your 3rd best tank on the 4th add.

Each channeler will also summon a Burning Abyssal they will last for one minute and should be crowd controlled by all those warlocks you brought with.

After 2 minutes Magtheridon will engage, by this point you should have 3 of the 5 adds down. Which brings us to phase 2.

Phase 2:

Now that Magtheridon is engaged have your maintank tank him against the wall by the door, while the raid finishes up and kills the remaining 2 adds. Every 60 seconds during the rest of the fight he will cast his blastwave, which you will counter by having your pre-assigned cube clicking team click when he starts to channel. Simply DPS him down to 30% to get to phase 3.

Phase 3:

At 30% Magtheridon will shatter the roof causing the ceiling to fall down causing 5000-7000 damage to the entire raid. The ceiling will now periodically cave in dealing roughly 100,000 damage to those standing beneath it. There is a cave in Animation and debuff before the spell actually happens so be aware so you can move if you are going to be under a cave in. The rest of phase 3 is the same as phase 2. Burn him down at this point.

General Tips:

Do not stand by your cube unless clicking it, in the case that you are targeted by a cave-in your cube will not be accessible to be clicked when it is needed and will result in a wipe.

Magtheridon will enrage after 20 minutes.
