Here is an Apprentice to Grandmaster Tailoring leveling guide (levels 1 to 450). Leveling Tailoring requires an amazingly large number of mats to level up. Below are step by step instructions for leveling Tailoring using only basic recipes and materials.
It’s much faster to buy the materials to level up tailoring but that can get rather expensive, if you’re in need of gold I definitely recommend using this gold guide.
Apprentice Tailoring Guide (Levels 1-75)
Leveling up Apprentice Tailoring requires a bunch of Linen Cloth and Coarse Thread. Linen can be easily obtained as you’re leveling, or you can go back to places like the Dead Mines later to farm the linen you need. I suggest you get 166 Linen Cloth, but since Linen Bag turns yellow at level 70, you might need a few extra to finish leveling off to 75. Make sure you save all the Bolts of Linen Cloth that you make until your Tailoring skill is at least 75.
Journeyman Tailoring Guide (Levels 75-125)
Journeyman Tailoring is the wool stage of Tailoring. You’ll need at least 150 Wool Cloth to craft the 50 Bolts of Woolen Cloth you’ll need for leveling from 105-125. However, I recommend you get 180 to make sure you reach level 105 and have enough extra bolts to reach 115 while leveling off of Gray Woolen Shirts. For me, wool was cheap enough to just grab on the Auction House, the rest of the materials can be found at a tailoring or trade supplies vendor.
Expert Tailoring Guide (Levels 125-230)
You’ll need at most (hopefully) 636 Silk Cloth to craft 159 Bolt of Silk Cloth for leveling off of silk items. The best place to get silk is either Scarlet Monastery or the Auction House, it’s one of the most popular cloths so it typically is less expensive than Mageweave. Note that when you get to level 175 you’ll stop to craft at least 10 Bolt of Mageweave to reach 185.
Artisan Tailoring Guide (Levels 230-300)
Once you reach level 250 you’ll want to start collecting Runecloth for your next stage of leveling. It will cost you about 744 Runecloth. You’ll also want to start looking for the pattern for Runecloth Bag sold in Winterspring by Qia. If you can’t find this pattern don’t fret, you can just level from 275 to 280 off of Runecloth Gloves instead.
Master Tailoring Guide (Levels 300-375)
This part of the leveling guide will take you through 300-375. You will finish this section off by leveling off of Bolt of Frostweave for the Grand Master Tailoring leveling section.
Grand Master Tailoring Guide (Levels 375-450)
This is the final stretch of this Tailoring leveling guide. You’ll use a ton of frostweave to finish off leveling to 450.
